vablet vs Showpad: the field sales enablement alternative for regulated teams

Quick answer: Showpad and vablet both put content in the hands of field reps. Showpad is now part of a larger combined company, owned by Vector Capital and merged with Bigtincan in October 2025. vablet is independent, publishes its pricing, updates every rep’s content automatically, and plays video embedded in PDFs as well as PowerPoint, on phones, tablets, computers and browsers.

Why are regulated teams taking a second look at Showpad?

A new owner and a combined product line

Vector Capital acquired Bigtincan in April 2025 and completed its acquisition of Showpad on October 30, 2025, combining the two companies under the Showpad brand with more than 2,000 customers. Apratim Purakayastha became CEO of the combined business (IT Brief). Showpad’s site now lists Brainshark, Bigtincan Hub, Zunos and ClearSlide alongside its own products.

When several product lines come together, buyers reasonably ask which ones carry the roadmap, and where engineering time goes while they are combined. That is a fair question to put to any vendor before a multi-year renewal.

Current content is a compliance question, not a convenience

In regulated selling, the risk is a rep showing yesterday’s version. Showpad’s own help center says that content updates are not downloaded automatically; the rep is notified and syncs by hand. In vablet, a replaced file reaches every device on the next sync without the rep doing anything, and a file set to expire disappears from the device on schedule, even offline. That helps prevent outdated-content findings before they start.

The content your marketing team already makes

Many life sciences teams build interactive PDFs with embedded procedure videos. Showpad states that embedded media is supported only in PPTX and PPSX, and that PDF embedded media is not currently compatible. vablet plays video embedded in PDFs right on the page, and renders PowerPoint files up to 2 GB with embedded video optimized for mobile playback.

How does vablet work for your field team?

  • Always current, always approved. Approved content is pushed to every rep, replaced versions sync automatically, and files can expire or be revoked across the fleet, including distributor devices you do not own.
  • Every interaction on the record. Reps tap to start and end a meeting and vablet records the activity in Salesforce. Shared content is tracked: who opened it, which pages, and for how long. secureSend encrypts sensitive PDFs and sends the key separately.
  • Ready before the call. The built-in LMS supports SCORM and xAPI, and passing a certification can release the related content to that rep automatically.
  • One app on every device. Phone, tablet, computer and browser, with the same sign-on and permissions. Offline in the apps on iOS, Android and Windows.
  • AI on your terms. vablet’s AI capabilities are controlled by an account setting and can be switched off entirely. AI runs on the device or in your own cloud tenant, reads only approved content, and every action is logged.

When is Showpad the better choice?

vablet does not fit every organization. Showpad may be the stronger answer if:

  • You want one vendor for content, coaching suites, buyer engagement and analytics, and you have a dedicated enablement admin team to run it.
  • Your reps work mostly in connected environments and rarely rely on interactive PDFs.
  • You already run Showpad Coach or a Bigtincan product at scale and switching costs outweigh the benefits.

When is vablet the better choice?

  • You need every rep to have the current approved version, automatically, without depending on reps to sync.
  • Your content includes PDFs with embedded video, or large PowerPoint files.
  • You want published pricing you can defend in procurement, with no implementation fees.
  • You want training and content entitlement in one system, with an LMS included.
  • You prefer an independent vendor with in-house support that has been helping customers since 2001.

How do you switch from Showpad?

Most teams are live in as little as a day and fully rolled out within 30 days. If you are mid-contract, the vablet Switch Program builds a plan around your renewal date so you are not paying for two platforms at once. See also the full vablet vs competitors comparison and vablet vs Seismic.
