The 3.42 release is a significant upgrade to the system, in our noble pursuit of endlessly enhancing your mobile content management experience.

Installation Instructions: To install this update, simply find the Appstore icon on your iPad or iPhone and tap the ‘Updates’ link along the bottom. vabletLite will appear in your list of update notifications. Tap ‘update’ to install 3.42.

iTunes will recognize that you have already downloaded vabletLite and you will not be charged. In addition, all of your files will be maintained on your device, upon update. This may take awhile, depending on how many files you have pushed to your device. 

If you should encounter the message “The file is currently not available”, then it’s best to delete and reinstall the app.

How do I delete and re-install the app? It’s easy! Find the vabletLite app icon on your device – rather than a quick tap to launch the app, hold your finger on the app until a black ‘x’ appears in the upper left corner of the icon. Tap that black ‘x’, then launch the Appstore and re-install the app.

* You may need to obtain the vablet ID and Registration Key from your account Administrator, depending on how good your memory is… However, DO NOT enter the Organization Name – simply enter name, email, vablet ID and registration key.

1. Our latest release enables large quantity file management with ease. The vablet app can now support 5000+ files throughout your account with all the great features that help you access the content you need when you need it.

A laptop may provide convenient storage for the files, but a tablet displays a richer image and vablet gives you flexibility to isolate the presentation files you need, on the fly. The following vablet features illustrate the efficient ease of use to manage the content you need for a particular meeting or trade show on your calendar this week.

• Enter keywords in your filenames and in the ‘Short Description’ when uploading your content to the Admin console, and this will enable a quicker search experience on your device.
• Tag files with our new Long-hold feature and segregate key product files or proposals on the fly. Now your most pertinent content will appear in the ‘Tagged’ folder on your ‘apptop’ when you arrive at your meeting.
• Device users can create their own folder structure, directly on the device. Simply add a new folder, from within the vablet interface; then use our enhanced search feature to find the product files you need and copy them to the new folder with our new Long-hold feature. This is also a great feature when you get an unexpected meeting on your calendar while on the go! (New folder creation must be enabled from the settings gear in the upper right corner.)

Updates to Admin Console on the Web:

1. Resume Feature 

You can now set the time limit to hold the last file open if you need to leave vablet to open a different application. Simply set your resume time to 5, 10 or however many minutes you wish, in order to  return to the same file when you return to vablet. And, you can establish this setting account-wide or on your own device, from the Device Menu on the admin console.

Improved handling of security, enabling convenient removal of a device from your account.

5. Screen Auto-Lock

This prevents interruption of the downloading process, so you can be sure of the instant on, instant access of vablet. If you have a ton of new files, it may take a few minutes to synch with your device – but we’ve made sure that your shutoff settings won’t interrupt the download!

6. Improved Search Capability 

Default search is within the user entered metadata for each file, which speeds up the search process. Turn this off in the settings menu and vablet will search all content in all of your files.

7. Mark All as Read

Long hold on a folder and you can select for all files to be marked as ‘Read’. The best value for this feature is when experienced in split view.

8. Clean up your ‘App-top’ by Hiding Certain Folders From View!

Adding a new folder or moving files between folders were previously required from the admin console. Now you can make those changes on the fly. 

9. Updated PDF Viewer 

New functionality added to the PDF viewer includes the following commands that will appear at the bottom of your file upon tap: 

Put yourself in the shoes of the CEO, CFO, CTO, or CIO and think about the possible types of information that could be on any one of these devices.  And, it’s going home, to the restaurant, to the gym, the nightclub and anywhere else people go.  Not to mention, how does the information get there?  Who controls it?  Can it be removed?  What is the cost of the exposure?  Mindboggling when you consider it…

If I were to try and solve this concern, I would start by considering the devices as a whole: both the benefits and the issues.  I would strive to preserve the user experience, the individual’s unique expressions, all the while protecting my company’s exposure to leakage of sensitive or proprietary information.  I would want people to use these devices as much as they can for the sake of productivity and efficiency, but in a secure way that I can mitigate risk of data leakage.

What if I could control a small piece of real estate, on each device, without disrupting the experience and beauty of the iPad?  What if I could avoid the hassle and liability of controlling every aspect of the device?  I would want a container – a small, secure mobile container right on each device.  One where my company could push any and all the files an employee would need, in one place that was controlled by the company administrator.  I would also want to know who is looking at what file, when, and how often.  And, if I wanted my files back, I could simply press a button, and they would disappear from the device.  If my mobile container could do all that, I think I would really like it.

Vablet provides a secure mobile container for your enterprise, including instant access and synchronization of files along with analytics while preserving the individual experience of the device user.

Is there a complete solution?  Maybe, as it depends on your environment and your end game.  The many issues of cost, connectivity, deployment, compliance, device and file control, integration, leveraging current platforms, satisfying legal and enhancing usability are all very important factors.  Individually they are tough to solve, as a group, enormous.

Enter the “App world” and the chaos ensues, as there are many disconnected and incomplete solutions to evaluate.  It’s possible that if you put several apps together you might solve several of these problems and get closer to your goal.   But the downside is that you are now dealing with more than one vendor.  Versions change, functions change, it can be a can of worms.
